Thomas Rotherham College
Thomas Rotherham College is located around a mile from the town centre. Many of the students choose to walk to and from the college to the town, and there are regular buses which run from the town centre’s transport interchange, or from stops located along the town centre’s main routes.
Established as one of the first sixth form Colleges in England in 1967, Thomas Rotherham College is heir to an educational tradition going back to the foundation in 1483 of the town’s former grammar school which later moved to the spectacular Victorian building and grounds which, enhanced by state-of the-art contemporary additions, comprise the College’s estate.
The large majority of the college’s students are studying advanced level courses; there is also some level 2 work and a niche provision of adult learning and business training.
With success rates at the high levels of sixth form colleges nationally and rising value-added scores, Thomas Rotherham College aims to be recognised as a centre of educational excellence.
